TP Chimie 1
📌 Course Description
Welcome to the General Chemistry Laboratory 1. This practical course is designed to introduce students to fundamental laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and essential chemical principles. Through a series of hands-on experiments—including solution preparation, acid-base titrations, and physical property measurements—students will develop the analytical skills required for accurate data collection, uncertainty calculation, and scientific reporting.
🎯 Target Audience
This course is intended for first-year preparatory-class students (1CPST) and students enrolled in an introductory course in chemistry and matter science at the National Polytechnic School of Constantine (ENPC).
🏆 General Learning Outcomes
- Apply laboratory safety rules and good laboratory practice.
- Identify common laboratory equipment and select appropriate glassware.
- Prepare chemical solutions by dissolution and dilution.
- Perform measurements and report them with appropriate units and significant figures.
- Estimate and discuss experimental uncertainties.
- Analyse the structure of matter using appropriate scientific models.
- Interpret the Millikan oil-drop experiment.
- Perform an acid-base titration and determine the acidity of vinegar.
- Determine the refractive index of a liquid using Snell’s law.
- Process experimental data using equations, tables, and graphs.
- Identify sources of error and discuss experimental limitations.
- Write clear, structured, and scientifically accurate laboratory reports.
